Plain answers, no jargon. If you are handing us your league's registrations and your members' details, you should be able to read how we look after both in about two minutes.
We never see credit card numbers, and your registration money goes straight into your own account. Everything below is detail on top of those two facts.
Payments happen on Stripe's own secure page, not ours. There is nowhere on PlayCompete that even asks for a card number, an expiry date or a security code, so there is nothing for anyone to steal from us. Stripe handles billions of dollars a year and this is the part they are best at.
Registration payments land in your league's own Stripe account. We never hold your money and pay it out to you later, which means your season's revenue is not sitting in someone else's bank account while you are paying for fields and umpires. It is your money, in your bank, from the first registration.
When Stripe tells us a registration has been paid, we check that the message really came from Stripe before we believe it. Somebody who tried to tell our system "this registration is paid" would simply be ignored.
We can always help you reset a password. We can never tell you what it was, because we genuinely do not know. Passwords are scrambled in a way that cannot be reversed, so even someone who somehow got a copy of our database would not have anybody's password.
Repeated wrong passwords lock the account, and every further attempt locks it for longer. Working through a list of likely passwords is not practical.
And they cannot see yours. Every screen checks who you are and what you are allowed to see before it loads anything at all. It is not a matter of which menu links we show you; the data simply is not there to be found.
Players opt in themselves, we record exactly when they did it, and replying STOP ends it permanently the first time, with no further messages and nothing to confirm. We never add somebody to a text list on your behalf.
There is no advertising code on PlayCompete and no third-party analytics watching your members. We count how many times a page was viewed without storing anything about who viewed it, which is also why you will never see a cookie banner on your league's pages.
Anything typed into a team description, a league page or a registration answer is cleaned before it is ever shown to a visitor. Your public pages stay yours.
No company can promise perfect security, and we are not going to be the first to try. What we can tell you is where the risk is not: it is not in our handling of card numbers, because we do not handle them, and it is not in our holding your money, because we do not hold it. If you ever have a security question we have not answered here, ask us directly and we will give you a straight answer.
